Pilot International

What does it mean to be a Pilot member?

Values serve as the cornerstone to an organization. They encourage and direct and organization's people and their work. Pilot members have said that our organization values:

Friendship & Fellowship
Service
Leadership
Personal Growth
Community
International Diversity
Ethical Behavior

These intangible values are essential to the culture of Pilot International. They enable us to survive as an organization, and to draw additional members who are inspired by and committed to the work we perform in our communities. Pilot's values have been formed and polished over the last 75 years, beginning with the first club in Macon and eventually travelling to over 500 clubs around the world.

Picture perfect friendships are   one great  benefit of joining Pilot

There are additional benefits that Pilot membership dues provide. As noted by Pilots, these are:

Reputation and Heritage of a 75 Year Organization
A Strong Foundation - Pilot International Foundation
Leadership Opportunities
Informative Publications
Professional Training
District and International Conventions
Networking Opportunities
A Successful Youth Program - Anchor Club
Inspirational Speakers
Volunteer Resource Materials
Professional Staff and Organizational Resources
Collective Purchasing Power

Perhaps the greatest benefit of being a Pilot member is the pride and personal satisfaction that one feels by contributing to the improvement of our communities. Membership offers many new experiences, and a sense of belonging to a group of individuals who truly care.

Keeping and "I" on Membership

Inform the community about the service your club provides so potentials members will know that this is a group that makes a difference.

Inquire about why members joined your club and why they maintain their membership. Use this information in your membership drive.

Instill your membership with confidence. Let them know that each member is needed and you know they will support all membership recruitment efforts.

Involve all members in recruitment and retention of members. Arrange for different members to call new members in the early months of their membership. They could ask the new members if they would ride with them to meetings or activities.

Impress upon each member how important they are. Acknowledge the talents and resources each brings to the club when appropriate. Some members like to be recognized in front of a group and others do not.

Initiate new members and warmly welcome them into your club.

Innovate all procedures or projects as needed. Seek to expand activities that bring your club success and change those that deplete resources and morale.

Institute a mentoring program for new members. This could be based on common interest or training. Keep existing members involved is just as important as involving new members.

Improve your efforts by evaluating each recruitment event. After a Share Pilot event, for example, recognize your achievements and ask the membership how they feel improvements could be made. Implement them at your next activity.

Infuse your club with a sense of pride for their work and accomplishments in membership growth. Honor those members who bring in the most new members and honor those whose mentoring has made a difference in retaining your members!
